Sundays at 9:00 AM beginning November 29
The Gathering is a modern expression of worship at First United Methodist Church—a place for music, Scripture, prayer, conversation, and grace.
Rooted in the same Wesleyan faith and shared life as our traditional worship, The Gathering offers a different rhythm and style while remaining part of one church and one community.
Whether church has been part of your life for years, you’re returning after some time away, or you’re simply wondering whether there might be a place for you—
Come and see.
Music that helps us pray, celebrate, wrestle, and respond.
Scripture and preaching grounded in grace and connected to the lives we actually live.
No dress code. No prerequisite. No need to have everything figured out.
The Gathering begins at 9:00 AM. When worship ends, stick around for The 30 In Between—time intentionally set aside for coffee, conversation, and connection before Traditional Worship begins at 10:30.
Before we search for God, God is already reaching toward us.
Before we get everything right, grace is already at work.
Before we ever decide to come and see, Christ has already seen us.
The Gathering begins there.
Beginning November 29, First United Methodist Church will gather for worship in two different ways:
9:00 AM — The Gathering
Modern Worship
10:30 AM — Traditional Worship
Choir, organ, bells, hymns, and the traditions that have shaped generations of worship at First.
These aren't two congregations competing for space. They are two expressions of the worshiping life of one church.
And between them is something important.
From approximately 10:00–10:30, there is room to linger.
Grab some coffee. Find a cookie. Catch up with someone you haven't seen. Meet somebody whose name you don't know yet.
Because Christian community has never depended upon everyone sitting in the same room at exactly the same time.
We find one another in worship, but also in small groups and Sunday school classes. Around tables. In choir and bells. Making sandwiches on Saturday and burritos on Sunday. Serving our neighbors. Raising children. Sitting beside someone who is hurting. Laughing together. Praying together.
That is church, too.
There is more to the story.
As we prepare for this new worship schedule, we're sharing a three-part series about why we're making this change, what it means for our community, and whom we hope to make room for.
Different expressions. One church.
Why offer both modern and traditional worship—and why now?
Community is bigger than one hour on Sunday.
What happens to fellowship when we worship at different times? That's where The 30 In Between—and everything we do together beyond Sunday worship—matters.
Who isn't in the chair beside us yet?
Some chairs once held people we remember. Others may someday hold people we haven't even met.
Making room isn't only about changing a schedule. It's about remembering why the Church exists.
You don't need to know the songs.
You don't need to know when to stand or sit.
You don't need to have church figured out.
You don't even need to be certain what you believe.
Just come.
Come and see.
